Still not done with the redesign but I wanted to point out the link to the right for Jerseys/sweaters and other hockey gear. Using that link ties you to this tournament possibly giving discounts on items throughout the store.

Currently working on a major site redesign to make it easier to find what you need and help boost search engine responses as well as provide our sponsors with more exposure. Also, I added a gallery with some great pictures courtesy of Kirk Donaldson, players are of course welcome to add their own pictures at anytime to help fill our photo album.

Still fresh off the heels of the 2008 event in February we are meeting, greeting, hobnobbing and getting things ready for the 2009 event! Your feedback was reviewed and discussed and not only are we going to greatly improve the next event, we are going to blow it away! So much is already planned that you would think it’s an entirely new event. Whitmore Lake will be converted to “Pond Hockeytown” with local businesses helping to support the hockey community. Proposals to have as many as 100 teams are floating around with support from additional sponsors. A new marketing genius is heading up the event and we hope to bring you everything you could possibly want in a cold hockey weekend and then some. Visit our site often and PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE leave comments, feedback or ideas in the forums for us to discuss in our upcoming monthly meetings.

Ok, an executive level decision was made and we think we’re good to go. Saturday will be “Festivities day”. The beer tent will be open, contests will go on as planned, and prizes will be given out as planned. So consider Saturday a party day.. come and enjoy a night of hockey under the beer tent. Sunday the games will commence at 9:00am and the last game will be played at 5:00pm ending near 6:00pm…. Just before we lose our light. The games will be shortened from 20 minute periods to 15 minute periods and to get more players on the ice at one time we are adding additional rinks. The added rinks will allow us to move teams around and get all the games in. I have been assured that a schedule is complete and I’m just waiting on the email to post it. The team captains will likely get the schedule the same time I do, so posting it would be for everyone that doesn’t have access to their team captains.

Hi Captains- I have posted this message on the website, can you please share it with all your players! I am the tournament director and the man who will take all the heat for this tournament. I just spent 2+ hours with my VOLUNTEERS. About 30 of the best people you will find in this state. We talked about all the aspects of the tournament, the upcoming WEATHER and ice conditions!!!!! With my 35+years of playing hockey, 10 yrs of running an automotive winter test site and most importantly, my 11yrs of living on this lake and building 2 rinks in front of my house…I told them we have less than a 50% chance of skating on Saturday. Will I be wrong or right?? Let me explain. There is 6 inches of ice on the lake, on top of that is an inch of water, on top of that, there is 2 inches of ice. We have a jello layer. If that freezes into a solid it is GAME ON!! If it does not, we can not walk on it, let alone skate on it. Do not give up! Here is what I think needs to happen to play on Saturday. It needs to not snow, and it needs to get around 20 degrees or less Friday night. I may be wrong. I hope I am wrong and we are playing hockey on Sat. My hands are very very tied by mother nature right now. I want you all to know that I love pond hockey as much as you do and I am willing to do anything to make this happen. You guys are all very important to me and so is the money you sent to me. I will be totally honest and open with you. I am doing everything I can. SCHEDULING has been the biggest surprise of the tournament for me. I have 8 different divisions that are all different sizes. We bought software to make this easier and it has done just the opposite. Tomorrow morning, with help from a few volunteers, I do not know if I have scared you all, I hope I have portrayed to you that I care. I am just talking from my heart and being the most honest person I can be. Please, please stay with me and we will get this done together.

Finally we have the Division list ready for everyone. Visit the teams page and you will find that the teams are now broken up into their respective divisions, hopefully all the information is correct but inevitably there will be mistakes. I will make every effort to get them corrected before tournament time.

That’s it folks! I think we have our 50 teams, any registrations after this point will go into a que just incase a team doesn’t send in their payment. I want to thank everyone that signed up but registration is officially on hold until the next meeting to determine all of the attendees and teams involved and we get an accurate count of who is in and who’s out. I still suggest signing up if your interested, you will get a call/email if your added to the list. If you already signed up and your name is not on the Teams list don’t fret.. we just have not added you yet. |
